Team Leader, Volunteer Management (Volunteer Role)
Planet Watch is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven environmental education initiative dedicated to making climate literacy accessible for all ages. We create clear, hopeful learning tools, youth-friendly programs, and a curated online library that helps communities understand climate issues and take meaningful action.
The Role
Lead and support Planet Watch’s volunteer community by coordinating recruitment, onboarding, communication, and day-to-day engagement. This role ensures volunteers feel welcomed, informed, and connected, and that teams have the people and support they need to move projects forward smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, screening, and onboarding
- Maintain clear role descriptions and help match volunteers to suitable positions
- Provide steady communication, updates, and check-ins with active volunteers
- Track volunteer participation, availability, and project assignments
- Support team leads by helping them identify volunteer needs and gaps
- Help foster an inclusive, supportive, and mission-aligned volunteer culture
- Identify challenges early and work with leadership to resolve them
- Support a positive, collaborative environment for all contributors
- Lead a team of 4 or 5 people

Experience and skills
- 3-5 years in volunteer coordination, community management, HR support, or related roles
- Experience with nonprofit, educational, or environmental initiatives is an asset
- Comfort with simple digital tools for communication and tracking preferred
Time Commitment
- Minimum 4 hours per week.
Eligibility
- Candidates must reside in Canada and be fluent in English.
