Tony Carter is the Founder of Planet Watch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing global awareness and action on climate change. With an accomplished career spanning over four decades in project management, leadership, and education, Tony has combined professional excellence with a deep personal commitment to environmental sustainability and youth empowerment.

Before establishing Planet Watch, Tony served as a College Lecturer in Business Management and Leadership, where he taught international postgraduate students from 81 countries—a period he fondly recalls as the highlight of his career. Many of his former students later joined him as volunteers, enriching his initiatives with diverse global perspectives and cultural insight.

Tony’s extensive project management career includes senior leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard, Bell Canada, Holt Renfrew, Eaton’s, Deloitte & Touche, and the LCBO. As the Head of Hewlett-Packard’s Project Management Centre of Excellence, he led major innovations in supply chain systems across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, fostering best practices, collaboration, and mentorship programs for emerging project managers.

His professional journey reflects a remarkable evolution—from serving as Vice President of Information Systems in Canada’s retail sector to leading international consulting projects with IBM in the UK and Europe. During his 17 years with IBM, he contributed to retail industry advancements, including assignments in Paris and consulting visits across nearly every Western European nation.

Since retiring from teaching, Tony has dedicated his time to volunteer work in climate action and clean energy programs, integrating his management expertise with a passion for building collaborative solutions to address the world’s environmental challenges.

Tony describes himself as a “Renaissance Man”—someone driven by curiosity, learning, and a desire to connect diverse ideas, traditions, and perspectives to inspire meaningful progress.

Beyond his environmental advocacy, Tony is also an ardent jazz enthusiast and the author of “A Biographical History of Jazz,” a book that blends cultural storytelling with his lifelong appreciation for music.

“You can’t just observe the important things in life—you must live them. I live the horror and hope of climate change every day of my life.” — Tony Carter
